Chusan palm. A hardy palm with large, fan-shaped leaves, growing to 12m (40 ft) high in Britain. The flowers, flower buds and terminal buds are all edible. Leathery leaves used for twine and produce a fibre. Hardy to -15°C. Sun or part shade and a well-drained soil.
