The young shoots have a pleasant fruity odour when crushed and are used to make a tea; the shoots and an oil from the leaves is used medicinally. The timber is durable and valued for roof shingles, exterior boarding, fencing, sleepers, canoes etc. Likes a moist soil and full sun; hardy to -40°C. Stratification: CS4. Number of seeds: 150.
