Myrrhis odorata – sweet cicily
Sweet cicily. European perennial growing to 1 m (3 ft) high. Well known for its sweet anise-flavoured leaves, seeds and roots, which can also be eaten raw or cooked. Also used medicinally; bees like the flowers. Likes a moist soil and sun or part shade; hardy to -20°C.
