Description
Spice bush, Wild allspice. A large aromatic shrub to 6m (20 ft) high, with fruits usable as an allspice flavouring; the leaves are a clove/pepper flavouring and used to make a tea; the shoots & bark are camphor flavourings. Likes a moist, acid soil and part shade; dioecious so both sexes are needed for fruit. Hardy to -23°C.
