Willow-leaved sea buckthorn. A medium sized Himalayan tree growing to 15 m (50 ft) high; dioecious. Female trees bear numerous fruits in the autumn which are edible (usually cooked – acid raw) with a lemony flavour and very high in Vitamin C. The leaves, shoots are fruits are used medicinally. A nitrogen-fixer which grows in most soils in a sunny position. Hardy to -10°C or so. Stratification: CS4-8. Number of seeds: 20.
