The genus Malva consists of some 30 species of annual and perennial herbs and subshrubs from temperate and tropical regions. Easily grown, and often found in ornamental flower borders and naturalistic plantings, Malvas are some of the finest perennial salad plants for temperate climates, and several species are amongst the most used in the A.R.T. forest garden in Dartington, Devon.
