American gooseberry mildew, Sphaerotheca mors-uvae, is a North American fungal disease, which appeared in Europe about 1900 and spread very rapidly. It is now widespread and can be very damaging not only on gooseberries but also on blackcurrants at times. It is a much more serious disease in Europe than European gooseberry mildew.
