Factsheet N13: Staphylea – the bladdernuts

The bladder nuts are a group of deciduous shrubs and small trees which get their name from the fruits, which are inflated capsules containing a few seeds. Thy originate from northern temperate regions, and are generally found growing in woodlands in moist soil. The two species described here have edible seeds.
