£1.00
Most folk are acquainted with culinary rhubarb, but this is just one of many Rheum species which are edible and/or medicinal and are used in many different parts of the world. They are native to Europe and Asia, where they grow on moist soils, often near water courses or woodland edges. All the rhubarb family have thick roots which go deep in the soil and they good mineral accumulators, mining minerals from deep in the subsoil and bringing them up to the soil surface layers. They are members of the Polygonaceae.
