Elaeagnus x ebbingei 2L
£12.00
A hybrid Elaeagnus species, this is an evergreen large shrub to 5 m (16 ft) high with dark silvery green leaves, tiny fragrant flowers in autumn and red fruits (2 cm by 1 cm) which ripen in April or May, which are richly flavoured when fully ripe. The seeds are also edible, though the seed case is chewy. A very good hedging and windbreak plant, it also fixes nitrogen. Will grow almost anywhere – poorer sites seem to encourage more fruiting – in sun or quite deep shade; hardy to -20ºC.
