The young leaves are edible – raw in salads or in teas, and the fruits are edible, usually used in preserves. The seeds can be made into a coffee. Several parts are used medicinally. Makes an excellent stockproof hedging plant, also a bee plant. The wood makes good fuel. Any soil in sun or part shade; hardy to -23°C. Stratification: WS13+CS26. Number of seeds: 25.
