Description

Marsh mallow. perennial To 1.2m high, found at marsh edges but tolerates most soils and sites. The roots were once the source of the sweet ‘marshmallow’. The leaves and roots are cooked as vegetables and the whole plant is medicinal. Paper is made from the fibres in stems and roots. Hardy to -25°C.
