Hi Martin, thank you for replying. The two 8-year-old trees are on M27 and the younger trees are M9.
Maybe I’ll ditch the clover then, it was an experiment but I don’t feel it worked well.
In the past, I have mulched with grass cuttings, but I can’t remember exactly why I felt this was not working for me. I think it may have seemed to coincide with the trees getting aphids and I’ve since been told mulching with grass cuttings can give the trees too much nitrogen and sap-sucking insects like aphids are attracted to nitrogen feed plants and trees? I’m interested to hear your thoughts?
Do you think I’d be better mulching with bark chippings or cardboard?
