Our favourite places in Totnes

Starting from the bottom of the town:

  • Vire Island is a nice place to sit by the River Dart

On the Plains:

  • The Curator Coffee shop and restaurant – Italian

Right at the bottom of the main street:  Fore Street

  • The Royal Seven Stars – nice hotel/pub for an outside drink and watch the Totnes bustle

Heading up the main street:

  • Look out for little alley on left to Ticklemore Street where you’ll find Country Cheeses and Lamaro Bakery

Back on Fore Street, going up

  • Lloyds bank on the right for cash point
  • Gather restaurant on left, using some foraged ingredients. Open some evenings.

Under the arch – Fore Street now becomes High Street

  • Dephinis Organic Gelato shop (vegan options) on the right
  • Historic church on right
  •  Rumour winebar for lunch & evening meals – gets booked up so best to book – on the left
  • Seeds – vegetarian cafe with shared tables, for lunches & open some evenings – on the left
  • The market square – excellent mixed market on Fridays and Saturdays
  • Greenlife Shop in Market Square for excellent range of wholefoods

Look out for Castle Street on the right which takes you to Totnes Castle

Back on the High Street, keep going:

  • On right Bianca and Massimo’s tiny Italian vegetarian/vegan restaurant – super hospitable
  • Ben’s Tapas Bar on the left – delicious food from local organic growers Riverford for lunches & evening meals

Bit further up on the right – the road gets narrower and is called the Narrows!:

  • The Hairy Barista – great little coffee shop
  • Willow Vegetarian Restaurant – veggie food at mostly shared tables, very sociable! Lunch & evening meals.
On the left:
  • Tulsi – small friendly wholefood shop

Nearly at the top. On the right:

  • Greenfibres – organic clothing, cosmetics etc
  • Earth.Food.Love – zero waste shop
On the left tucked away in the Rotherfold:

  • Me and East – local crafts and gifts
