The cranberry, Vaccinium macrocarpon, has provided the plant material for the establishment of an industry worth several hundred million dollars annually in the United States and Canada. Cranberry cultivation has shown promise in Austria, Finland, Germany, Poland and former USSR countries. Several other species of Vaccinium are sometimes called cranberry but this article concentrates on the one used commercially.
